NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 Ampere Gaming graphics cards are set to feature the most premium and powerful PCB design on a reference board. This new design will be included for the higher-end enthusiast series of cards which include the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (or 3090), GeForce RTX 3080, and the next-generation Titan.
The latest news on NVIDIA’s next-gen GeForce RTX ampere series has been upgrading its power delivery design for high-end models (GA 102). NVIDIA has been slowly providing better and better power delivery designs with its high-end Founders Edition cards, but this is taking it to the next level. The previous-gen have seen a noticeable upgrade in a number of components and their quality.
As per the @KkatCorgi, the RTX 30 series lineup feature PCBs with over 20 power chokes but we don’t know which model that the leaker is talking about. The same PCB is expected to be available for RTX TITAN Ampere, RTX 3080 Ti (3090), and RTX 3080.
For comparison, the previous-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition features a PCB with 16 power chokes. From Msi, the fully custom Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z comes with 19 power chokes.
The nvidia enthusiast-tier cards will utilize the same PG133 PCB to house the flagship gaming chip, the Ampere GA102 GPU. But Videocardz is hinting that a PG132 board which was designed for board partners, but unlike the 133 it features a regular rectangular shape.
The leaked RTX 3080 PCB revealed that the company has been working on a complex irregular shaped board design with two fans pointing in different directions. Such a design required the components to be squeezed around a V-shaped fan hole. As a result, this has increased the complexity and component density on the graphics card.
